<![endif]-->The New York Times reported that Wednesday's International Atomic Energy Agency report indicates that Iran "has now produced roughly enough nuclear material to make, with added purification, a single atom bomb." "'They clearly have enough material for a bomb,' said Richard L. Garwin, a top nuclear physicist who helped invent the hydrogen bomb and has advised Washington for decades. 'They know how to do the enrichment. Whether they know how to design a bomb, well, that's another matter.'" Read More

Bloomberg highlighted the IAEA report's finding that Iran and Syria have failed to cooperate with the IAEA regarding their respective nuclear activities. "'Iran has not offered any cooperation with the agency' to clear up allegations that it has sought to develop a weapon, the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency said in a report." Reuters wrote that Iran and the IAEA are now in a "silent standoff" over Iran's nuclear program. "'We had gridlock before but until September at least we were talking to each other. Now it's worse. There is no communication whatsoever, no progress regarding possible military dimensions in their program,' a senior United Nations official said. ... 'Our questions are there and they need to be addressed. There is no point in writing them again every week. We are just awaiting their response,' said one senior official." Read More

Iranian press interviewed Iran's ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency, Ali-Asghar Soltaniyeh about the IAEA report. SOLTANIYEH: "Therefore, those who have got the Security Council involved should be blamed for [the cessation of Iran's extensive cooperation with the agency], and the Director General should blame them not Iran." The Guardian reported on the Iranian economy, President Ahmadinejad, and the upcomming election. Reuters quoted Stuart Leavey expressing concern about Iranian banks that are still oberating in the U.A.E. "The United States is holding discussions with the United Arab Emirates which include issues important for Dubai if it is to become a trusted financial center, said Stuart Levey, U.S. Treasury undersecretary for terrorism and financial intelligence. 'There is a challenge in the (United Arab Emirates) especially because of deep commercial ties between the UAE and Iran,' he said." Read More

Sky News reported that "Iran has blocked access to more than five million internet sites because they are 'immoral and anti-social,' according to reports." "Internet service providers have been told over the years to block access to political, human rights and women's sites, as well as anything deemed pornographic or anti-Islamic. The country's 21 million internet users will now also be prevented from viewing weblogs expressing dissent, along with popular sites as Facebook and YouTube." Read More
